Women And Peace
The Women And Peace Coalition was founded in 1989 by Jewish and Palestinian women in Israel who felt the need to cooperate in order to form a forceful political voice. Their goals were to advance the role of women in social and political activity, to work for negotiations with the PLO, and to become an effective public pressure group working for an end to the occupation. Many women’s peace groups joined the coalition, including Women In Black, Shani, The Peace Quilt, Tandi, WILPF and more.
The Coalition was active in struggles against the expulsion of Palestinians and for the reunification of families, against land confiscation and against settlements in the occupied territories.
